Craftsmanship

Approximately five weeks of meticulous craftsmanship are invested in the creation of this piece. The reversible board features a chess playing surface on one side and a backgammon layout on the other, each adorned with finely detailed hand-painted Tazhib motifs developed with careful balance, precision, and controlled colour harmony.

Select borders are finished with hand-assembled Khatam marquetry, composed of micro-inlaid elements in wood, camel bone, and brass. Once completed, the entire surface is sealed beneath a crystal-clear resin finish, enhancing depth, luminosity, and long-term durability while protecting the artwork.

The set includes a handcrafted hard case, a complete set of chess pieces, and matching backgammon checkers. Each element is produced in collaboration with specialised master artisans whose expertise has been passed down through generations.
