Part of the Pilardi collector selection, this Khatam marquetry chess and backgammon set celebrates the precision of traditional wood inlay through a refined geometric composition. Every visible surface is decorated with repeated micro-patterns, creating a balanced and architectural design.
It is both a functional luxury board game and a decorative object: made to be used, admired, and preserved.
Craftsmanship
The board is made using Khatam marquetry, a traditional inlay technique based on the assembly of very small geometric elements. Wood, camel bone, brass, and mother-of-pearl are arranged by hand to create the repeated patterns that define the surface.
The reversible board includes a chess playing area on one side and a backgammon board on the other. A clear protective resin finish enhances the contrast and depth of the marquetry while helping protect the surface over time.
This set includes a protective hard case, a full set of chess pieces, and matching backgammon checkers.
